The DJI Osmo Pocket 4 already looks like one of the best small cameras available for vloggers. Then DJI introduced the Pocket 4P with a second lens and even more professional video features.

So, is the Pocket 4P really worth the extra money?

For most vloggers, I think the regular Pocket 4 is the smarter buy.

However, creators filming products, reviews, interviews and cinematic B-roll may get much more value from the Pocket 4P and its dedicated 60mm lens.

The Biggest Difference

The Pocket 4 uses a 1-inch sensor with a wide 20mm-equivalent lens. It records up to 4K/240fps slow motion, offers 14 stops of dynamic range, includes 107GB of internal storage and uses DJI’s three-axis mechanical stabilization.

That is already a powerful setup for such a small camera.

The Pocket 4P adds a second 60mm f/1.8 camera. This gives creators a genuine telephoto view instead of simply cropping into the wide camera’s image. The main camera also provides up to 17 stops of dynamic range and supports DJI’s newer D-Log 2 colour profile.

That second lens is the main reason to choose the 4P.

Which Is Better for Vlogging?

For everyday walk-and-talk videos, travel and casual YouTube content, I would choose the Pocket 4.

Its wide lens is ideal for holding the camera in front of you while still showing some of the surroundings. You still get smooth gimbal stabilization, strong subject tracking, excellent slow motion and enough internal storage to start filming without immediately reaching for a memory card.

The Pocket 4 gives most vloggers everything they actually need without making them pay for a telephoto lens they may rarely use.

Which Is Better for Product Videos?

This is where the Pocket 4P could be worth the higher price.

Wide lenses are excellent for vlogging, but they are not always ideal for close-up product shots. Products can appear stretched when the camera is placed too close.

However, creators who prefer to record, perform a quick edit and upload may not see enough difference to justify paying more.

The Pocket 4P is aimed at a more serious creator.

Its 60mm lens gives it an important advantage for products, interviews, portraits and close-up B-roll. It provides shots the regular Pocket 4 cannot create as naturally with its wide lens alone.

My recommendation is simple:

Choose the Pocket 4 for straightforward vlogging and the best value.

Choose the Pocket 4P when product videos and professional-looking content are part of your business.

For someone building a serious creator or affiliate channel, the Pocket 4P may be more expensive—but its additional lens could also help produce the kind of content that earns that money back.
