The DJI Osmo Pocket 4P and Insta360 Luna Ultra are two of the most interesting pocket cameras available right now.
Both give you a 1-inch main sensor, mechanical gimbal stabilization and a second 60mm telephoto camera. But they go in different directions.
DJI gives you incredible 4K slow motion and a lower price. Insta360 gives you 8K and one of the smartest detachable screens I’ve seen on a small camera.

🏆 My pick: DJI Osmo Pocket 4P
I think the Pocket 4P is the better buy for most video creators.
You get 4K/240fps from the main camera, 4K/200fps from the telephoto camera, 103GB of internal storage and a 60mm f/1.8 telephoto lens. DJI rates the main camera at up to 17 stops of dynamic range.
The Luna Ultra fights back with 8K/30fps, 4K/120fps, a 1-inch main sensor and its excellent detachable OLED touchscreen remote. It has 47GB of built-in storage.

DJI's Standard Combo is currently around $859 CAD, while Insta360 lists the Luna Ultra Standard Bundle at $949.99 CAD.
Why I'd Pick the Pocket 4P
The biggest reason for me is 4K/240fps.
I shoot in 4K whenever I can, and I'd rather have gorgeous 4K super slow motion than 8K/30 footage that I'm probably going to export in 4K anyway.
The Pocket 4P also gives you 4K/200fps from the 60mm telephoto camera, which opens up some seriously nice possibilities for close-ups and B-roll.
And DJI gives you more than twice the internal storage.

Where the Luna Ultra Wins
I have to give Insta360 credit for that detachable screen.
Pull the 2-inch OLED screen off the Luna Ultra and it becomes a remote monitor and controller. It even has its own microphone.
That's fantastic if you're filming yourself with the camera sitting several feet away.
And then there's 8K/30fps. If you want maximum resolution for cropping and reframing later, Luna wins that battle easily.

My Two Cents
Here's where I land.
I'd buy the DJI Pocket 4P.
The Luna Ultra's detachable screen is brilliant, and I really like what Insta360 has done with it. But I'm not sure I'd use 8K enough to justify giving up DJI's 4K/240fps.
For the way I shoot, slow motion is far more useful than 8K.
I also already like DJI's ecosystem and workflow. Give me the 20mm wide camera, that 60mm telephoto, 4K/240fps and D-Log 2, and I've got a tiny camera I could use for travel, product videos, YouTube and just about anything else.
The Luna Ultra is tempting.
The Pocket 4P is the one I'd actually spend my money on.

Better telephoto slow motion

Better value
Buy the Insta360 Luna Ultra if you want:
8K recording
A detachable remote screen

The Luna Ultra may be the more innovative camera, but I think the Pocket 4P is the better camera for the money.
And at roughly $90 CAD less, DJI makes that decision even easier.
