Double-Camera Bike Ride Along the Red River – Front & Back Angles with Pocket 3 + Action 5 Pro

Double-Camera Bike Ride Along the Red River – Front & Back Angles with Pocket 3 + Action 5 Pro

What happens when you mount the DJI Pocket 3 facing forward and the DJI Action 5 Pro looking back from your bike’s rear wheel? You get one of the most immersive POV setups for a summer ride along Winnipeg’s Red River.

This blog breaks down how I filmed it, why it works, and how you can do the same.

🎥 The Setup: Forward & Rear-Facing Creativity

For this ride, I mounted the DJI Pocket 3 using a chesty-style harness to capture the forward view. Up front, it gave that rider’s-eye perspective—complete with turns, trail textures, and dynamic light.

On the back, I mounted the DJI Action 5 Pro low near the rear wheel using a secure clamp. This rear-facing cam showed where I had been, giving the edit a smooth, flowing look from two perspectives.

🛣️ The Ride: Provencher to the Forks

I started just past the Provencher Bridge, cruising along the iconic Red River trail. With sun peeking through trees and the river running alongside, this route was a perfect testbed for double angles.

Motion blur was added later in Insta360 Studio to enhance the cinematic quality, giving the speed a sense of fluid glide—especially on turns and tree-lined paths.

🎨 The Footage: Natural Light Meets Cinematic Touch

The DJI Pocket 3 handled sunlight shifts with ease thanks to its D-Log M profile. Highlights and shadows stayed balanced—even as I rode through light-dappled patches and under overhanging branches.

Meanwhile, the Action 5 Pro captured the rear view with sharp detail and GoPro-rivaling stabilization. Together, they created a story from both directions.

🎬 Why This Setup Works

  • Immersive POV – Viewers feel like they're riding along

  • Storytelling – Front cam shows where you're headed, back cam shows where you’ve been

  • Minimal Gear – Both cameras are lightweight, balanced, and easily mountable

  • Editing Flexibility – Two angles = more creative options in post

🎤 Voiceover Ending (Used in Video)

“And that wraps up this ride along the Red River—captured from both the front and the back for a full 360° feel of the journey. The DJI Pocket 3 and Action 5 Pro worked perfectly together to show what it’s really like to cruise through this summer trail.
