Monitor Arm Single Display vs Dual Monitor Mount for Editing

Two screens add leverage
A dual monitor arm carries the weight of two displays through one central mounting point. That can save desk surface area, but concentrates force on the desktop. Verify desk material, mounting hardware and the combined supported weight rather than relying only on a per-screen marketing figure.
Independent adjustment matters
Editing setups often use one main preview monitor and a second screen for timelines or folders. A dual mount may constrain how closely screens sit together or their ability to move at different heights. Check reach and articulation for the actual display dimensions.

Single arms are modular
Two separate monitor arms provide flexibility in clamp placement and can spread loads across the desk. They use more hardware and mounting space but may make later changes easier. Look for cable management that allows screens to move without tugging on connections.
Protect the desktop
Do not clamp a heavy arm to a weakened or hollow tabletop without reviewing the manufacturer's guidance. A reinforcement plate may help only when approved for the setup. Follow the mount's VESA and weight requirements for both screens.
Build around sight lines
Position the primary screen comfortably in front of you. A secondary display should not force constant twisting or excessive neck movement. Consider glare, viewing distance and display height when choosing an arm configuration, not just how sleek the desk looks.
Choose for real adjustments
A dual mount can be convenient for matched monitors that rarely move. Separate arms are attractive when the displays differ in size or orientation. Test the mounting geometry before buying, because a wrong fit cannot be fixed by a high price.
Measure actual screen spacing
Two displays that look neatly arranged in a catalogue may not fit at your preferred eye level. Measure each screen's width, bezel and VESA placement, then work out the minimum distance between centres. Check whether one monitor needs to rotate into portrait orientation and whether the arm has enough clearance behind the desk. Do not underestimate the combined weight on a single clamp, particularly with a long forward extension.
