Time-Lapse by the Water at The Forks – DJI Action 5 Pro + ND32 + D-Log
Sometimes, all you need is a still camera, a moving sky, and a story told in fast-forward.
I set the DJI Action 5 Pro down near the water at The Forks, facing the riverwalk and open sky. With an ND32 filter and D-Log profile locked in, I let the camera roll while life unfolded in motion—clouds streaked overhead, people strolled by, and the city pulsed in the background.
🎥 The Setup
Camera: DJI Action 5 Pro
Mode: Time-Lapse (5-second interval, Wide FOV)
Filter: ND32 (for soft, cinematic motion blur)
Profile: D-Log (for grading flexibility)
Mount: Low-profile tripod or flat rock
Location: River’s edge, facing the Esplanade Riel bridge and skyline
The ND32 filter was essential. Midday sun was harsh, but this filter let me hold a slower shutter speed—perfect for smooth motion blur on passing people and clouds. Shooting in D-Log gave me plenty of room to bring out the colors and contrast later in post.
🌤️ Why It Worked
Natural reflections off the water added depth
Pedestrian movement created flow
D-Log preserved highlights and detail in the sky
The wide-angle view captured the river, bridge, and skyline in one shot
This kind of time-lapse is pure creative therapy—no dialogue, no pressure, just the world moving at its own pace.
