DJI Osmo Action 7 vs Insta360 Ace Pro 3: Which Camera Could Be Better?
The next big action-camera battle could be the DJI Osmo Action 7 vs Insta360 Ace Pro 3.
Neither camera has been officially announced, so this comparison is based on the current models, expected upgrades, and my experience using cameras from both companies.
DJI normally gives you dependable stabilization, natural-looking video, and a straightforward workflow. Insta360 tends to push harder with low-light processing, flip screens, AI features, and creative editing software.
Here is how I think the next generation could compare.

Image Quality
The current DJI Osmo Action 6 already has a 1/1.1-inch square sensor, variable aperture, internal storage, and strong waterproofing. Those features give DJI an excellent base for the Action 7.
I expect DJI to focus on:
Cleaner 4K video
Better colour and dynamic range
Improved nighttime stabilization
Faster processing
Better heat management
The Insta360 Ace Pro 2 currently uses a 1/1.3-inch 8K sensor, Leica lens, dual AI chips, and a 2.5-inch flip screen.
The Ace Pro 3 could bring better PureVideo processing, improved dynamic range, and possibly a larger sensor. That larger sensor is only speculation until Insta360 confirms it.
My early prediction: DJI may produce the more natural image, while Insta360 could have the low-light advantage.
Stabilization and Action Shooting
Both companies already have excellent stabilization.
DJI’s RockSteady system is usually simple and dependable. That makes it a good fit for cycling, hiking, motorsports, helmet mounts, and rough outdoor use.
Insta360’s FlowState stabilization is also excellent, but the software gives creators more options for reframing and editing footage afterward.
For pure action shooting, I would lean toward the DJI Action 7.
For handheld filming and creative content, I would lean toward the Insta360 Ace Pro 3.
Vlogging and Product Videos
The Ace Pro series’ flip screen is a major advantage when you are recording yourself.
It is easier to frame:

DJI’s front screen works well, but it is smaller. DJI may still offer the quicker overall workflow, especially for creators using DJI wireless microphones.

Software
This is one area where I personally give Insta360 the advantage.
I have used cameras from both companies, and I like Insta360’s software. It offers more creative tools and makes it easier to prepare footage for YouTube, Instagram, and TikTok.
DJI’s software is simpler and more direct. That is ideal when you just want to shoot, transfer the footage, and start editing.
Choose Insta360 for creativity.
Choose DJI for simplicity and reliability.
Should You Wait?
Wait for the DJI Action 7 when you want:
Rugged construction
Reliable stabilization
Natural-looking video
DJI microphone support
A straightforward workflow
Wait for the Insta360 Ace Pro 3 when you want:
A large flip screen
Strong low-light performance
Better creator tools
AI-assisted editing
More flexibility for vlogging
You do not necessarily need to wait, though. The current DJI Action 6 and Insta360 Ace Pro 2 are already powerful cameras.

The DJI Osmo Action 7 will probably be the safer choice for people who want a dependable and rugged action camera.
The Insta360 Ace Pro 3 could be the more interesting choice for vloggers and creators, especially if Insta360 improves its sensor, flip screen, and already excellent editing software.
